THE UPLIFT
Music of Protest and Healing
On Sunday, June 8 2020, in memory of George Floyd, Brionna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and other victims of racial injustice, I joined my college music partner Karl Douglass to DJ live on the internet for 80 minutes and 46 seconds. The time period was to commemorate the 8 minutes and 46 seconds that police officer Derek Chauvin pressed his knee into George Floyd's neck. Our session was a requiem in three parts: The Struggle, The Protest, and The Healing. Full track listing below. This isn't a playlist, bot more of a sonic and visual experience. Feel free to play, watch, download, or share. Peace in eternity to the fallen. Prayers and healing for the living. #BlackLivesMatter
